Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, Grace Viola (Aldrich) Barbour longtime resident of Guilford passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. The loving wife of the late Richard Louis Barbour, Grace was born in Guilford April 9, 1934.

Daughter of the late Mr. William and Mrs. Dorothy Aldrich, she was the devoted mother of Richard Barbour (Shawn) of Hartland, Vermont, Charles Barbour (Patricia) of Durham, Russsell Barbour (Julie) of Miami, Florida, Bruce Barbour of Guilford, Brian Barbour of Middletown, Pierre Barbour (Kate) of Farmington, Kenneth Barbour (Gayle) of New Haven, Malcolm Barbour (Melissa) of Meriden, and the late Keith Barbour and the late Linda Washington. She is also survived by her cousin Shirley Banks and by 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Banks, brother Peter Aldrich, and daughter-in-law Karen Broomer Barbour.

Grace worked her entire adult life while raising ten children until retiring from Northeast Utilities in 1994. She remained active by continuing to work as a cashier for Bishop’s Orchards for many years. Grace was loved by so many friends, neighbors, workmates, and of course family, due to her warmth, zest for life, and sense of humor. She was an avid music lover and singer, a great cook, and she loved to dance. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family.

Friends were invited to pass through calling hours on Feb. 2 at the Guilford Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Feb. 2 at the First Congregational Church, Guilford. Burial was held privately in Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
