Joseph A. Morcaldi, 89, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Jan. 27 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen J. Anderson Morcaldi. Joseph was born New Haven Aug. 21, 1931, and was the son of the late Fedele and Josephine Ciarleglio Morcaldi.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy. Joseph earned a bachelor’s degree from the former New Haven Teacher’s College and was a teacher for the North Haven School System for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, trips to Cape Cod, walking the beach, and meeting and talking to people along his walk.

He was the father of Michael Morcaldi, Steven Morcaldi (Cindy), and Marc Morcaldi (Karen) and grandfather of Karli Morcaldi (fiancé Patrick Bresnahan), Joseph and Ryan Morcaldi, Jeremy Sheades (Stephanie), and Krysti Sheades. He was predeceased by his brothers, James, Frank, Fred, and Edward Morcaldi, and his sister, Gloria McGeever. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, Jan. 30, to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. (Masks and social distancing strictly required for all services.)
