Branford

Stuart McKechnie Miller of Branford died peacefully in his home on Jan. 15.

He was the husband of the late Constance “Timmie” Tyson Miller. He was the brother of Christian Miller of Danbury and Elizabeth “Betsy” Gay (husband Walter) of Branford. He was the beloved uncle of Gary Clark of Johnson, Vermont, Carole Bishop of Newtown, Allison Hobbie of Exeter, New Hampshire, Stuart Clark of Killingworth, Christian (Bing) Miller of Branford, and Peter Clark of Branford. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Elizabeth Miller and brother-in-law Gary Clark.

Stuart was born in Meriden March 18, 1944, a son of the late Christian and Jean Doig Miller.

Stuart grew up in Indian Neck, graduating from Branford High School in 1962. After high school he served two years in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He earned a degree in economics from Quinnipiac University in 1968. Throughout his life he worked in product management and marketing for a variety of food companies in the Northeast.

Growing up in Indian Neck instilled a lifelong love for the water, especially Long Island Sound. For the last 30 years, he lived in Pine Orchard with his beloved wife, Timmie, until her passing last year. The two were inseparable and enjoyed the company of several loving English springer spaniels. To his friends and family, he will be fondly remembered for his love of adventure, a jovial smile, and a bold handshake. Stuart and Timmie enjoyed visiting friends and family in their home, where Stuart could usually be found standing in the kitchen, with a cigarette or a drink in his hands and a smile on his face. He enjoyed attending Yale football games, rooting for the Jets, and supporting Branford sports. He was extremely fond of his six nieces and nephews and their growing families who will always remember their Uncle Stu full of life and love in his heart.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the spring. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford is in care of arrangements.
