Madison

On Jan. 7, George H. Roche, Jr., longtime resident of Madison passed away at his home.

The husband of the late Kathleen (Franco) Roche, Mr. Roche was born in New Haven on Nov. 18, 1944, son of the late George H. Roche, Sr. and Mary Manniel Roche. He was the loving father of Gerald Roche and Lauren of Madison and Christopher Roche of LaVergne, Tennessee.

He is also survived by grandchildren Parker Kathleen and Riley Oliva Roche, extended family members, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Judith Chiburis and (Richard) of Houston, Texas and brother-in-law of Robert and Mary Jean Franco of Clinton.

George honorably served his country in the Air Force. Before retirement he had worked as policeman in Madison for 35 years. He enjoyed living life to the fullest. He loved to travel and cruise around the world with Kathy and his friends. His favorite places to frequent were Newport, Rhode Island and the Pavilion and Roche’s. He enjoyed many afternoons at the table with his friends drinking wine and playing setback. George always had great stories and enjoyed cooking his specialty dishes for his family and friends. He loved being able to watch his beloved granddaughters, Parky and Ry Ry, playing and engaging in daily conversations with his son Jerry and daughter-in-law, Lauren. George was so proud of his family.

A graveside service was held Jan. 12 in West Cemetery, Madison.
