Madison

Dorine Elizabeth Morton (Dodrill), 63, a longtime resident of Madison, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 4.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, David B. Morton, also of Madison; cherished daughters Eileen Tanner and husband Jason of Uncasville and Melissa Sanderson and husband Jonathan of Wells, Maine; and a precious grandson, Connor.

She is also survived by her parents, Capt. Albert Thomas Dodrill and his wife Marie Anne Dodrill (Salvato), and siblings Tom Dodrill and wife Karen, Veronica Demartino and husband Michael, Dennis Dodrill and wife MaryEllen, and Christopher Dodrill and wife Eileen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and God daughters Jacqueline and Nicole.

Dorine enjoyed many activities. Some of her favorites included gardening, bike riding, kayaking, RV trips, enjoying a good book at the Surf Club, and traveling. Her favorite pastimes included spending her summers in Sandwich, Massachusetts and biking the Cape Cod Canal; the many camping trips with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law; Disney World; lighthouse tours in Maine; jigsaw puzzles with her husband; snorkeling many islands in the Caribbean; reading stories to her grandson; and eating a good lobster roll with her daughters.

Dorine loved the role of being a mom, but when she got promoted to grandma, that was her favorite role. Her grandson feels special and lucky to have a grandmother who was always there in countless ways, surrounding him with love, many stories, many walks, and blueberry pancakes. She will forever remain in everyone’s hearts and souls.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital for the loving care for our mother.
