Clinton

William D. Anderson, 76, of Clinton passed away Nov. 21, due to complications of Agent Orange. He was the loving husband of 40 years to Pat Lane Anderson. He was born May 15, 1944, and resided in Clinton his entire life. He was the son of the late Alfred and Mary Anderson.

Bill was a graduate of The Morgan School Class of 1962. He was on the basketball team and nicknamed “Carrot.” He was a member of the Junior Clinton Fire Department, Lions Club, and a long-time member of Clinton Country Club. Bill was drafted and he always wanted to “be the best that he could be.” He joined the 82nd Airborne and Special Forces Green Berets during the Vietnam War. He held high regard for all veterans and all his brothers at the West Haven V.A. After the service he worked for the union in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, the Carpenter's Union, and at Thermal Acoustics and later started his own business Anderson Builders.

Besides his loving wife, he leaves a son, Jeffrey of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Maryjane O’Brien and husband Dave of Longwood, Florida; and a brother, Lee of Florida. He was predeceased by his sister Rosemarie and brothers Bruce, Joe, Robert, and Peter.

The family would like to thank all the nurses in the ICU and on the second floor at St. Raphael’s in New Haven for all their kindness and compassion that Bill received. Also, would like to thank all the V.A. nurses, P.T., and speech therapist, for their dedication to Bill.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Beaver Brook Cemetery in Clinton. Due to the current pandemic, the family has decided to have a celebration of life at the Clinton Country Club in the springtime.
