Northford, Windham, Maine

Dolores Doody-Gannon of Windham, Maine, formerly of Northford, died Aug. 20 in Spring Hill, Florida. She was born May 17, 1930, in New Haven to the late Francis P. Doody, Sr., and Nora Meaney Doody. She was the wife of William Gannon, who predeceased her.

She was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State Teachers College and taught kindergarten through second grade at Stanley T. William school in Northford for many years. Upon retiring she and her husband owned and operated Middletown Skating Center. They moved to Maine in 1985 and enjoyed many years at their home on Little Sebago Lake in Windham, where they loved entertaining family. She was predeceased by her husband in 2000. She then became a “snowbird,” spending winters in Florida and summers in Maine.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine Gannon Gianfalla and her husband Joseph of Spring Hill, Florida; her son William Gannon and his wife Donna of Northford; a sister, Constance Walsh of North Haven; two granddaughters, Jennifer Gianfalla (James Macpherson) and Michelle Christie (Brian) of Florida; and three great-grandchildren, Jude and Amelia Macpherson and Leila Christie.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Maine and St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Florida. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, her services will be held at a future date.
