H. Kathleen (Parrish) Kenerson, 72, passed away peacefully on Sept. 2 in her home with her family by her side. Kathy was born on Nov. 11, 1947, in Ithaca, New York to the late Charles Parrish and Elizabeth (King) Parrish.

Kathy is survived by her husband, D. Scott Kenerson of Clinton; a daughter, Wendy (Kenerson) Fillmore, her husband, Shawn Fillmore, and a granddaughter, Emma, of Coventry; as well as a son, Scott Kenerson of Wallingford. She is also survived by her brother Daniel Parrish and his wife Jacqueline of Ellenton, Florida.

Kathy developed exceptional secretarial skills and after high school applied to work at Cornell University. At the time, she scored the fastest typing score ever recorded by an applicant. She began working in the Nuclear Physics Department, working with several notable physicists of the time in a relatively new field. She worked with Professor Hans Bethe who won the 1967 Nobel Prize in Physics, and she always prized a postcard he sent to her from Norway when he went to receive the award.

After marrying and moving to New Jersey, she worked for the Money Store, (advertisements seen in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area) and got to know Phil "The Scooter" Rizzuto, the official spokesman for the company.

She became interested in decorative art painting and became so proficient that she began teaching others and sold many items at local craft fairs. She also helped a few local authors by typing manuscripts for books that were being prepared for publishing.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 at St. Mary's Church of the Visitation in Clinton, beginning at 11 a.m. A Celebration of her life will be immediately following in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Mary's Church of the Visitation in Clinton, or to a charity of your choosing.
