Old Saybrook

Julia K. Comerford, 94, daughter of the late Josephine and Adam Koprek of Stoneham, Massachusetts, died peacefully on June 7 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband James Comerford, her daughter Carol Ann Comerford, her seven sisters, and her brother. She is survived by her daughters Julie LaDone of Old Saybrook and Christine Wilson of Guilford; her son James Comerford of Ash Fork, Arizona; her four grandchildren, Lisa LaDone of New Britain, David LaDone of Andover, Massachusetts, Matthew Wilson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Jessica Laliberte of Quincy, Massachusetts; and her two great-grandchildren, Kash and Charlie LaDone.

She was a homemaker and watercolor artist, who exhibited her paintings for many years in local art shows. She enjoyed time spent with her family, solving acrostic puzzles, and doing jigsaw puzzles (as long as we gave her the pieces in a bag, so she wouldn't know what the picture was).

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on June 11 at St. John's Church in Old Saybrook, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook. Donations in her memory may be made to The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries, PO Box 804, Essex, CT 06426, or at https://shorelinesoupkitchens.org.
