Virginia A. Newton succumbed to complications from COVID-19 on June 1 at the age of 83. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she lived most of her adult life in Connecticut. The last 15 years she resided in Old Saybrook with her best friend Carol A. Manning and her cat Oliver. Ginny was an avid reader, a witty conversationalist, and a thoughtful listener.

She is survived by her son Jack Hartigan and his wife Cathie of Wilton, daughter Anne-Marie Hartigan of Manchester, granddaughter Jackie Ofria of Stamford, and grandson Will Hartigan of New York, New York. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private gathering to honor Ginny’s life and scatter her ashes is planned for a future date. Donations in her memory should be sent to the charity of your choice.
