Madison, Clinton

Eva Martin, longtime resident of Madison and Clinton, passed away peacefully at Yale-Haven Hospital. Eva was born in New Haven on Dec. 30, 1931, daughter of the late Sylvester and Giovanna (Chiaramonte) Planeta.

She was predeceased by her first husband Anthony DiNicola (Gary), second husband Donald J. Martin, and two brothers, Salvatore and Joseph Planeta. She was the loving mother to Nadine Genesius (Robert) of Madison, Gina DiNicola of Encino, California, Cassandra Boryslawskyj of East Hampton, and Anthony J. DiNicola of Branford. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sonya Genesius Holubowich, Brittany DiNicola, Anthony DiNicola, Jr., and Troy Boryslawskyj; and four great-grandchildren.

Eva graduated from Hillhouse High School and Stone Business School. She worked in many capacities over the years, including the bookkeeper for the Guilford Forge, owned a dress shop (Sophia’s) in Old Saybrook, as a hostess at the Stone House Restaurant, worked at Jeffery Norton Publishing in Guilford, and a salesperson at Hammonassett Ford. She had a passion for cooking, crocheting, and keeping busy.

She enjoyed her circle of friends in Vero Beach, Florida, where she and her second husband maintained a home. She loved to travel, especially their yearly timeshare visit to Cancun, Mexico. She will be missed by her family and closest companion, her Yorkshire terrier, Toby.

A graveside service was held June 10 at West Cemetery in Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clinton Ambulance Association, 170 E. Main St., Clinton, CT 06413.
