Cynthia Joan Harris Farace of Clinton passed away April 7 at home after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife for 59 years of Robert Farace, Sr.

Cynthia loved the company of friends and family, especially reveling in visits by grandchildren and great-grandchildren (“what happens at Grandma’s house stays at Grandma’s house”), and there was always room for one more, whether friend, family, or stranger, at the dinner table. Seemingly always the victim of jokes and pranks, we believe she secretly loved being the Abbott to Bob’s Costello.

She watched The Sound of Music more times than family could stand, and expressed her artistic talents through stained glass and flower arranging; despite Scottish heritage, she could put together a perfectly respectable lasagna. Cyn began working at Ponds, intending to work just long enough to finance having a fireplace installed at home, and somehow ended up staying for forty years.

In her illness, she enjoyed the assistance and friendship of all her aides, and we especially thank Alanna, Tina, and Michelle; and of great comfort and joy to her was videochatting with her sister-in-law Marie, whom she loved like a sister. Finally, she would want to leave you with these words of wisdom, “Watch out for the A-Hs!”

She is survived by her children Robert Farace, Jr. (Lorain), Lori Martindale (Harry), and Kevin Farace, all of Clinton. Cyn is also survived by grandchildren Rachael (Pedro), Rebecca, Melissa, Noah, Sydney, Kylie, and Nico; step-grandchildren Harry (Michelle), Kevin, and Nicholas (Gabrielle); great-grandchildren Tierra, Luciana, Sky, Abigail, Julianna, Valentine, Grey, and two players to be named later; and sister Mary Elaine Wilson (Jack).

She was predeceased by her husband Bob, and daughter Karen Farace. Family and friends will gather on Sept. 12 for burial at Indian River Cemetery, to be followed by a celebration of life, location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Community Healthcare and Hospice in Guilford, and to the Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven.
