East Haven

Elinor Palmisano, 83, of East Haven, passed away on March 30 at Connecticut Hospice after a long battle with cancer. She was born in New Haven on May 30, 1936, to the late John and Eleanor (Paecht) Roddy.

Elinor is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Thomas Palmisano, and four loving daughters, Susan Palmisano (Keith Zalinger) of Branford, Laurie Gibbons (Peter) of North Haven, Beth-Lee O’Connor (Matthew) of Hamden, and Tracy Castillo (Armando) of Northford. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren whom she adored, Christopher Dickerman, Rachel Dickerman, Michael Reynolds (Melissa), Stephen Sudac (Samantha), David Sudac, Matthew Gibbons, Jordan O’Connor, Kaylee O’Connor, Ruby O’Connor, Tessa O’Connor, Nicholas Ghobrial, Benjamin Ghobrial, and twins Skylar and Sebastian Gage; and one great-granddaughter, Gabriella Sudac. Elinor is also survived by her siblings Ruth Pagliaro (Anthony) of East Haven, Ann Raymo (Jerry) of Seymour, and John Roddy (Edwina) of Massachusetts.

In addition to her role as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, she cared for many children at her daycare for 50 years, all of whom she loved as her own. She was an avid reader and videographer, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by the many people who loved her and whom she loved.

Due to the recent restrictions from the Covid-19 pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in East Haven under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Smilow Hospital or the Connecticut Hospice in Branford in memory of Elinor Palmisano.
