Westbrook, Guilford

Sarah Wells Honsberger, longtime resident of Westbrook, formerly of Guilford, passed away peacefully Feb. 20 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Jeffrey Stanwood Honsberger.

Sarah was born in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, on June 21, 1960, daughter of LCdr. John Bartlett Wells, USN and Barbara Sanderson Wells of Guilford, now both deceased.

Sarah was the mother of Liza Wells Honsberger who was the light of her life. She was also stepmother of Evan Stanwood Honsberger (Cara) of North Madison and Ian Wiley Honsberger (Morgan) of Ottawa, Canada. She was the sister of Wendy Wells (Stephen Waldo) of Randolph Center, Vermont, Christopher Bartlett Wells of Charlestown, Massachusetts, and Timothy Rogers Wells (Priscilla) of Westbrook. She also had many nieces and nephews, and grandnephews and grandnieces.

Although Sarah had not worked in several years due to illness, she had waited tables at Friends & Company of Madison and later at Chip’s Pub of Clinton.

She enjoyed knitting and many other handcrafts, cooking, gardening, the beach (any beach!), spending time with family and friends, and hanging with her kitty.

Friends are invited to a memorial celebration service on March 7 at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Guilford, located at the north of the Guilford Green. Afterwards please join the family downstairs, with refreshments provided by the Alpha Club of the church. Please bring fond memories/stories to share. Burial will be in the church memory garden alongside her parents.
