Louis R. ‘Uncle Bob’ Calamari

Louis R. “Uncle Bob” Calamari, age 85, a longtime resident of Deep River, died on Feb. 28 at Yale–New Haven Hospital. Bob was born in Middletown on Dec. 28, 1934, son of the late Louis and Ruth (Molander) Calamari.

He grew up in Chester and Deep River. He graduated from Valley Regional High School in 1952 and served proudly in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1956. Bob was a faithful fan of the New York Yankees and Giants; most of all he loved spending time with his family, his nieces, nephews, and their children.

Bob is survived by his sisters Jean (the late Bill) Potts and Joyce (the late Donald) Hines, both of Deep River, as well as stepsisters Dory Hagedorn (Jim) of Woodstock, New York, and Kathy Fox (Dick) of Rindge, New York. Bob was predeceased by his sister Joan Waterman and stepbrother William Towler.

Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, on Tuesday, March 3 at 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, Chester, on March 4 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow with full military honors at the parish cemetery.
