Clinton

Kimberly Neri Simoncini of Clinton passed away on Feb. 13 at the National Cancer Institute/NIH after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born on March 7, 1966, the daughter of Carl and Joan Neri.

Kim lived in Clinton and graduated from The Morgan School class of ‘84. As a member of Morgan’s field hockey team she was instrumental in helping them become the state champions. She also graduated from Albertus Magnus where she received a bachelor’s degree in business. She proudly served on numerous boards and commissions in town, including Planning & Zoning and the Police Commission. She worked for various family businesses before she started her own company, Hammonasset Construction, which was one of her proudest accomplishments. Kim lived every day with an insatiable desire for life. She truly embodied the “work hard play hard” mantra. There was never enough time in the day to fit in everything she wanted to accomplish. She always wanted to win at anything she was doing and usually always did whether it was related to work or for fun. She wanted and expected the best from everyone.

She touched so many people in so many ways through her strength, wisdom, and compassion. She was always willing to help or guide anyone who needed or asked for it, as well as for those who didn’t ask. She will leave behind many fond memories and a legacy anyone would be proud of. Kim loved her family especially her nieces and nephews and was always trying to instill her virtues upon them. Kim is predeceased by her father Carl Neri and survived by her mother Joan Neri; husband Stephen Simoncini and daughter Mia Simoncini; and brother Vincent Neri and his wife Michelle of Westbrook.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 11:15 a.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Grove Street, Clinton. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook.
