Evelyn S. Eggert, 87, of East Haven passed away peacefully with her husband Clarence V. Eggert by her side at Whispering Pines on Feb. 10. She was born in Stitzer, Wisconsin, on Sept. 9, 1932, to the late Milton and Ardith Jones Smith.

She worked as a registered nurse for many years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son and his wife, David W. and Judi Eggert of Guilford; a brother, Gary (Patricia) Smith of Bellingham, Washington; as well as two step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Muriel Schellinger and Audrey Heim.
