Patricia Small Godiksen, known to her family and friends as “Patti” or “Gigi,” passed peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Ronald Godiksen, and her sister Cynthia Eliason.

She is survived by her sister Holly Clarke (and her husband Bob); her brother Ernest Small; and her children Steve Godiksen (and his wife Leslie), Erik (Dugan) Godiksen, and Karen (Chicky) Gurette. Her greatest love was her grandchildren Steven Godiksen, Shaun Godiksen, Kirstie Gurette, Tucker Godiksen, and great-grandson Jayden Godiksen.

Patti had a deep love of tennis, as a player, a coach, and an advocate of the game. As a longtime member of the Madison Beach Club, she served on the Tennis Committee and won numerous Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Singles Championships (the last at age 60). Patti was an energetic, beloved member of the Madison community and made a positive mark on numerous lives, be it through her coaching, her many years of work as a realtor, her devotion to her German Shepherds, or her deep devotion as a grandmother (she would try any sport her grandchildren were interested in—from rollerblading to snowboarding). She will be deeply missed.

Calling hours will be held at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, Saturday, Feb. 29, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A reception will immediately follow at the Madison Winter Club. Funeral services are entrusted to Carl Swan of Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Condolences may be expressed at hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com.
