Old Saybrook

Lucy (Musumeci) Sacco passed away peacefully on Feb. 2 at the age of 97 in Old Saybrook. She was born on Jan. 21, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Alfio Musumeci and Giuseppa Leocata Musumeci. She married Peter Sacco in Brooklyn, New York, where they raised their six children. Lucy was predeceased by her husband and sons Carl and Peter.

Lucy was employed by the US Army during World War II and later worked as a tailor/dressmaker. In 1977, she and her husband moved to Old Saybrook to raise their grandson Stephen C. Sacco. Lucy was active in the Saint John’s Ladies’ Guild and a charter member of the Old Saybrook Columbiettes.

Lucy is survived by her sisters Ida Hart and Mary Glavaz; her children Alfred (and wife Diana), Joseph, Stephen J., Lucyann, and Stephen C. (and wife Susan); and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clinton, CT 06413. A private burial will be held.
