Deep River

Timothy K. Costello, 78, formerly of Forest Hills, New York, died peacefully Jan. 18 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was born on April 10, 1941, in New York, New York, to the late John and Mary (Sullivan) Costello.

He was predeceased by his niece and goddaughter Anne (Costello) Dombrofski. He is survived by his brother Dennis Costello (Catherine) of Deep River and his sister Erin Costello of Port Hueneme, California; his nieces and nephews Mark Dombrofski of West Hartford, Mary (Costello) Saunders (Brendan) of Clinton, Amy (Costello) Brassard (Andrew) of North Providence, Rhode Island, and Paul Costello (Michele) and Tom Costello of Middletown; as well as grandnieces and grandnephews Sean and Claire Dombrofski, Jorden Saunders, Jonathan and Nicholas Costello, and Elyse and Leah Brassard.

Tim was a very loved and loving brother, uncle, cousin, and great-uncle. He was a train aficionado, a voracious reader, and an avid conversationalist. As a devout Catholic, he regularly attended Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex and enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Parish Council.

His family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Yale Smilow of Old Saybrook and Middlesex Hospital for their excellent and empathetic care.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St. in Essex on Friday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at the Resurrection Cemetery, Rte. 145 in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 14 Prospect St., Essex, CT 06426.
