Old Saybrook

Terry Paul Humbert of Old Saybrook passed away unexpectedly at home due to health issues on Jan. 15. He was born on Jan. 16, 1944, in Hermosa Beach, California, the son of William Harold Humbert and Genevieve Williams Humbert.

Terry served in the US Navy aboard the USS Fulton and was stationed in Groton. He was a successful business owner of Terry’s Roofing for more than 30 years, of which 20 years were in partnership with his son. They worked together every day in the town of Old Saybrook.

Anyone who had the honor of meeting him instantly gravitated to his joyful personality. In his youth he enjoyed skiing and waterskiing, and loved rebuilding cars. Later in life he enjoyed snowmobiling, playing horseshoes, and sitting around a fire with family and friends swapping stories. Many of his friends or his children’s friends would stop by to visit Terry if they saw a fire blazing in the back yard; all were welcome.

Terry is survived by his son William Humbert and his wife Kimberly of Bozrah; his daughter Christina Mullaney and her husband Kevin of Warwick, Rhode Island; sisters Lana Buethe of Auburn, Washington, and Robbie Doll of Graham, Washington; and grandsons Kolby Humbert, and Sean and Andrew Mullaney.

Terry was a private person and his wishes were to be cremated with no funeral services. His children plan to have a celebration of life later in the spring at his house around a fire as he would have liked. These details are to be determined and will be shared by Bill and Chris at that time.
