Clinton

Carl Andrew Neri, of Clinton, passed away on Jan. 12 at home. He was born on Jan. 13, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Joseph and Anna (Giarelli) Neri.

He moved from Brooklyn at age 5 to Clinton (summer home) and attended the Clinton schools and graduated from Morgan, class of ‘57. He also graduated New Haven College (University), Connecticut School of Electronics, and he served in the Army National Guard.

Carl coached and sponsored several Clinton youth teams for decades. He served on the St. Mary’s Parish Council. He served as chairman of the Clinton Republican Town Committee. He also served on multiple boards and commissions, including Public Works, Water Pollution, Planning & Zoning, and Tax Assessment Appeals.

He worked for Technical Measurements Corp. and then started various businesses, including gravel operations, subdivsions/development, Clinton Food Mart, and construction companies. Carl was the president of The Neri Corp. of Clinton.

His life is a true story of the American Dream, proving hard work and diligence is rewarded. His dedication to family, faith, and work are his trademark. There will never be another like Carl Neri; he was one of kind and he will be greatly missed.

Carl is survived by his wife Joan Neri; children Vincent A. Neri and his wife Michelle of Westbrook, and Kimberly Neri Simoncini and her husband Stephen of Clinton; sister Theresa Eva Thomas of Westbrook; grandchildren Mia Simoncini, and Bridget, Brianna, Vincent C., Jocelynn, and Julia Neri; and great-grandson Andrew Neri. Carl was predeceased by his siblings Josie Chandler and Joseph Neri.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 20 at 11:15 a.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Grove Street, Clinton. Burial with military honors will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Clinton Families Helping Families or Wounded Warriors.
