Westbrook

James Louis Rae, of Westbrook, passed away on Dec. 17 at home.

He was born on Jan. 4, 1956 in Ludlow, Massachusetts, the son of Betty Rae of Westbrook and the late James Rae.

James got his associate's degree from Middlesex Community College and his bachelor's in business management from Post University. James worked at Fortune Plastics in Old Saybrook and Tower Labs in Essex, among a few other places. He was a black belt in karate, enjoyed reading and learning about many things. He also liked gardening, hiking, and spending time outdoors enjoying nature. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his beloved mother Betty and his granddaughter Hailey.

In addition to his mother, James is survived by his sons Daniel Rae of Wolcott and Kyle Rae of Thomsonville, North Carolina; siblings Timothy Rae and his wife Carol of Norwich, Patrick Rae of Norwich and Cheryl Rae of Meriden; grand daughter Hailey Rae of Wolcott; nieces, nephews, and friends. He was also predeceased by his brother Scott Rae.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook.
