Deep River

Charlotte W. Thorpe, 93, of Deep River passed away peacefully on Dec. 15. She was born in Westbrook on Oct. 28, 1926, to the late Frank and Olive (Chapman) Washburn.

Charlotte was a lifelong resident of Deep River and retired from Chesebrough-Pond’s in 1989. She was a member of Club 60 in Deep River and was also a member of the Deep River Congregational Church choir. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed.

Charlotte leaves behind her six children, David (Rita) Thorpe of Deep River, Debbie (Don) Kehoe of Florida, Dan Thorpe of Arizona, Darryl (Susan) Thorpe of Ivoryton, Sally (Peter) Waz of Deep River, and Renee (Sandy) Alonzo of Deep River; as well as grandchildren Shelly (Kevin) Kozcek of Virginia, Erin (Ian) MacDonald of Florida, Justin (Niki) Waz of Deep River, Brooke Kehoe of Florida, Melissa Thorpe of New York, Eli (Danielle) Thorpe of Arizona, and Jenni Thorpe of Ivoryton. She also leaves great-grandchildren Jackson and Reese MacDonald, Hunter and Katarina Koscek, Jaxon Thorpe, and Julia Waz; a niece, Beverly Thorpe of Westbrook; a nephew, Bud Thorpe of New York City; and sister Dorothy C. Washburn of Westbrook. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille (Washburn) Thorpe.

A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church Deep River on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Burial will be private at a later date at Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook. Memorial donations may be made to Middlesex Hospice, c/o Middlesex Hospital. Keenan Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
