Old Saybrook

Janet (Ianniello) Morrison of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 5 at the age of 50 years. She was born in Old Saybrook, one of three daughters of predeceased parents Robert and Anna Ianniello. Janet leaves behind her sisters Trish Ianniello and Barbara Burr, her aunt Diane Beecher, her nephews Michael and Steven, and her former husband Bruce Morrison. In recent years, Janet was beset by a number of medical issues that she confronted with grace and a calming demeanor.

Janet attended Old Saybrook High School and was a graduate of the University of Connecticut. She embarked on her career in accounting with Coopers & Lybrand, where she obtained her CPA designation. She subsequently joined Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, a global investment firm, in its Hartford headquarters in the mid-90’s. Due to her significant capabilities, she rose to the level of director in the Accounting Group, and subsequently transitioned to portfolio management to expand upon her knowledge of real estate investing. Janet’s career at Cornerstone spanned more than 20 years, and her gracious and helpful style touched and influenced all of her associates (too many to mention) and outside clients, particularly Gloria, Cay, and Marty. Needless to say, she had many friends and family members who are saddened by her passing.

In her spare time, Janet had many interests. She adored her two cats Kirby and Roddy, loved the Connecticut shore, and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and was particularly proud to be a founding member of the “Pinky Swear Club.”

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to Forgotten Felines, 153 Horse Hill Rd., Westbrook, CT 06498.
