Arthur Robert Riccio, Jr., 69, beloved husband of Svetlana Tertyshnikova-Riccio, passed away at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Nov. 24. He was born in New Haven, Dec. 17, 1949, son of the late Arthur Robert Riccio, Sr., and Adeline (DiAdamo) Riccio.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children Arthur R. Riccio III, Adeline Michelle Riccio, Natalie Elizabeth Riccio, and Catherine Adele (Christopher) Berry. He also leaves behind his two close brothers, Dr. David I. Riccio (Karen) and Marc T. Riccio (Kandi), and his double cousin Harry DiAdamo (Maureen); four grandchildren, Floralee, Aurelia, Lance, and Gwendolyn; his mother-in-law Adelina Maslova; his nephews David Jr., Adam, and Timothy; as well as many other extended family members.

Arthur graduated from Hamden Hall Country Day School in 1967, where he played football, basketball, and ran track wearing number 24. He still holds the school record for the 100-yard dash. He received his BA from Union College in 1971 and his JD from the University of Miami School of Law in 1975. Upon completing law school, Attorney Riccio started as an associate at Winnick, Resnik, Skolnick and Auerbach Law Firm of New Haven.

Attorney Riccio, an accomplished trial attorney in many legal disciplines, for years represented Amica Insurance Company in defense of insurance claims. He was the founding partner of the law firm Riccio and Beletsky, LLC of Branford, and served on the Liaison Committee on the L’Ambiance Building Collapse Case. Attorney Riccio was highly respected by his peers and the bench for his professional demeanor, integrity, fairness, and engaging personality.

Arthur was an avid golfer and a member of Clinton Country Club for more than 35 years. He was a lifelong New York Yankees, New York Giants, and New York Knicks fan. But his real love for sports was coaching and supporting young people, especially his daughter Adeline and son Arthur.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at both Yale-New Haven Hospital and Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center for the care they extended to Arthur.

Family and friends may call on Nov. 27 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St. in Branford, and are invited to go directly to St. Augustine Church of St. Ambrose Parish, 30 Caputo Rd. in North Branford for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. on Nov. 29. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Smilow Cancer Center, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06510.
