North Branford

Lance Larsen Graver, 58, of North Branford died peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Nov. 15 with his loving wife of 23 years, Brenda, by his side. Also surviving him are his children Darrel and Kara Graver of North Branford; his stepchildren Lindsay and Xavier Johnson of Branford; his father and stepmother Henry and Louise Graver of Guilford; and his step-siblings Brad Bunney of Northbrook, Illinois, and Katje Auerswald of Washington, DC. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Ellen Larsen Graver who died in 1983.

A graduate of Guilford High School, class of 1979, from a very early age Lance was an ardent and knowledgeable fisherman. Happy, happy hours were spent on and in the waters of Long Island Sound, clamming, pulling lobster and winkle pots, fishing for porgies and any other fish that were available. He knew where the lobsters hid and the rocks were located. For several years in the 1980’s Lance was the owner of Branford Hills Seafood.

Following the wishes of Lance and his family, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North Branford Food Bank, 1382 Middletown Ave., North Branford, or the Guilford Food Bank, 45 Stone House Ln., Guilford, CT 06437.
