Essex

Raymond C. Lauber, age 88, a longtime resident of Essex, passed away peacefully on September 28 at the Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center in Natick, Massachusetts. Ray was the beloved husband of Carlene (Sherb) Lauber who predeceased him on Oct. 3, 2013. He was born on Sept. 25, 1931, in New Haven, the son of Clarence Raymond and Grace (McDowell) Lauber.

Ray received his bachelor’s degree in business from Duke University. He enjoyed a long career in finance working in both investments and municipal bond sales at Chase Manhattan Bank. Ray served his country proudly as a member of the US Coast Guard during the Korean War. He had been a resident of Essex for 30 years and was a former resident of Wilton. He had recently moved to Natick to be closer to his daughter, Sheryl L. Weden. Ray was an avid golfer and loved animals of every kind.

Besides his daughter Sheryl and her husband David of Dover, Massachusetts, he leaves his son Steven and his wife Missy of Parkland, Florida, and his seven grandchildren and his one great-grandson. Besides his wife Carlene and his parents, Ray was predeceased by his daughter Wendi Lauber Butler, who passed away on Nov. 10, 2015, and his half-brother Norman Marshall.

A family graveside service with the rendering of Military Honors was held in the Riverview Cemetery in Essex.
