Old Saybrook

Carol Anne Sullivan, 73, of Old Saybrook passed away unexpectedly with her loving family by her side on March 17. Carol was born on Oct. 24, 1945, to Anne Bates (Dorman) Atherton and Albert Atherton in Glenridge, New Jersey, where she grew up, met, and married Ronald Sullivan.

They moved to Old Lyme and eventually relocated to Old Saybrook where they raised their three daughters. Carol worked for Structural Graphics for 30+ years as their assembly and production manager. She was an avid UConn fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spending time on Long Island Sound.

Carol was predeceased by her mother Anne, her father Albert of Old Saybrook, and her brother Tim Atherton of Florida. She is survived by her spouse of 50+ years, Ronald Sullivan, of Old Saybrook; daughter Pamela McKiernan, husband Jason of East Lyme; daughter Penny Sullivan of Old Saybrook; daughter Virginia (Ginger) Burnham, her husband Stephen Burnham of East Hartford; her three grandchildren, Alexis Lockwood of East Hartford, Olivia and Patrick McKiernan of East Lyme; brother, William Atherton and his wife, Anne of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; her sister-in-law Kathy Atherton of Palm City, Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
