Essex

It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Paul John Pytlik, of Essex, on Aug. 12.

Paul was born in Middletown on Feb. 7, 1944, and lived in Westbrook for most of his childhood and young adult life, graduating from Westbrook High School, class of 1962. He joined the Air Force and spent four years in Mobile, Alabama, before returning to Westbrook, where he started his long 46-year career with the US Postal Service. He switched from the Westbrook Post Office to the Essex Post Office, where he was very well known and loved by everyone on his route.

Paul was a very kind and generous man, who made friends wherever he went, and went way beyond the duties of his job to give special attention and care to all who needed it. He will be missed.

He is survived by his three children in Mobile, Alabama, Sherry Reichert, Lisa McLaughlin, and Joseph Pytlik, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother George and Nancy Pytlik of Westbrook; sister Cathleen and Daniel Kinsman of Westbrook; nephews George Pytlik, Jr., Thomas Mulcair, and John Kinsman; and a niece, Elizabeth Pytlik Cardenas. Paul was predeceased by his father and mother George and Gloria Pytlik.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Westbrook Town Beach on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. All are welcome.
