Nancy Joan Pietrosante, 85, passed away on Aug. 3. Nancy and her husband Joseph Anthony Pietrosante celebrated 50 years of marriage this past year. Nancy was born in the Bronx, New York, to Hugh and Marie McKiernan. Nancy loved all things from the Emerald Isle. She was rarely seen without her beloved claddagh earrings and she was an avid fan of genealogy, enjoying tracing her Irish roots, connecting members of her family, and tending the family tree. She was also a voracious reader, and enjoyed tennis, knitting, and shopping. Her favorite activity was always time with her grandchildren. She adored their warm hugs, effusive energy, and giggling voices.

Nancy graduated high school from St. Nicholas of Tolentine. She worked as an executive assistant in Manhattan at Liggett and Myers and at Martin Moran & Associates. Later, after settling in Connecticut with Joe and their young family, Nancy went to work for Allstate Insurance Company. Nancy famously answered her manager’s question of, “Anything I can do for you?” with, “Yes. Hire my husband.” Joe got the job and became an agent in 1981. Later, Nancy joined Joe in the agency and helped build a successful business with him until retirement in 2000.

Nancy is survived by her husband Joe; twins Maria Pietrosante and Michael Hugh Pietrosante; daughter-in-law Chanda Fortuna; and beloved grandchildren Logan Pietrosante, Geneva Eowyn O’Hara, Devon Pietrosante, and Hayden Pietrosante. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Lenore and brothers Gerald, Hugh, and Kevin.

Her family would like to thank the capable and kind staff of Solaris Parkway Healthcare, Stuart, Florida.
