Guilford

May Elinor Griswold Dudley, lifelong resident of Guilford, passed away at home on Aug. 8. She was the widow of the late Shelton Weld Dudley, Jr. May Elinor was born May 14, 1928, in Guilford, daughter of the late John Leete Griswold and Glenna Ludington Griswold.

She was the mother of Stephen B. Dudley (Mimi) and the late Martha Dudley Flanagan (Thomas); and the sister of David C. Griswold of Durham, Maine. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, Jason, Anne, and Pamela; three great-granddaughters; and two nephews and a niece.

May Elinor was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Guilford. May Elinor worked for the Yankee Knitter for many years and produced numerous knitted items for her family. She loved her Clapboard Hill neighborhood and the many friends and neighbors she grew up with. She had many friends and will be sorely missed.

Friends are invited to a graveside service to be held in Alderbrook Cemetery, Boston Street, Guilford, on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund, First Congregational Church, 122 Broad St., Guilford, CT 06437.
