Edward G. Page, long-time resident of Guilford and Branford, most currently Kissimmee, Florida, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on July 17. He was 90 years of age.

Mr. Page was born in New Haven on Sept. 3, 1928. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara J. Page; and his parents Harry E. (Butch) Page and Ada Goss Page. Edward is survived by his daughters Barbara (John) Hammarlund of Guilford, Gail (Steve) Nelson, and Sandra (Christopher) Wilson, both of Kissimmee, Florida, and Stella Matthews of Winterville, North Carolina. He is also survived by grandchildren Casey (Yassar) Mahmoud of Warner Robins, Georgia, Benjamin Coe and Drew Wilson, both of Kissimmee, Florida, Katie Matthews of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Kyle Matthews of Winterville, North Carolina; great-grandchildren Layla and Sammy Mahmoud, both of Warner Robins, Georgia; godson Philip DeMond of Guilford; and his beloved cat “Fat Cat.”

During the Korean War, Mr. Page proudly served his country as an airplane mechanic for the US Air Force. He was a member of many volunteer organizations, including Guilford Volunteer Fire Department, F.C. Spencer Hook & Ladder Company; Edward A. Norton VFW Post 7666 (former commander), Guilford; Branford Elks; VFW Post 4225 Kissimmee, Florida; and the Guilford Agricultural Society, Inc.

Edward was a devoted employee at any job he ever held. For 35 years he worked at Western Union, New Haven, as a Field Service Technician. After his retirement from Western Union, he enjoyed being a custodian at the Madison School System for 10 years. Before retiring for good, he continued for 16 years in a part-time capacity in the maintenance department for the Town of Guilford.

Edward enjoyed railroad history and trains in general. Electronic gadgets kept his hands and mind busy. He was always happiest when tinkering with some kind of radio or CB. He was an avid golfer and continued to play three times a week, up until his death. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family. Weekends were often spent with his daughters exploring the outdoors and visiting various train museums.

In May this year, he was selected to participate in the Orlando Honor Flight to Washington, DC. Two of his daughters were able to experience that with him and could clearly see the pride and love he had for his country. He left his hand print on his family, military brothers, friends, and anyone he came in contact with. He lives on through the memories we hold so close to our hearts.

All are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Guilford VFW, 57 Mill Rd., Guilford, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a private burial at Alder Brook Cemetery.
