Joseph Simon Flynn, Sr., 76, of The Villages, Florida, and previously of Palm Harbor, Florida, Springfield, Massachusetts, and Clinton, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 30 after a long illness. Joe was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Dec. 10, 1942.

Joe was a retired insurance executive with Brown & Brown, Landy Insurance (Needham, Massachusetts), and the Watson group (Wethersfield). He was a proud member of the Villages Democratic Association. He was an avid sports fan of local teams. Joe was a proud veteran of the US Coast Guard.

He is survived by the love of his life, his high school sweetheart Maureen (née Sullivan), who was married to Joe for 56 years. He is also survived by his son Joe and wife Marie (Clinton), his son Rick and wife Donna (Tarpon Springs, Florida) and his son Dan and wife Dawn (Portland). Poppy adored his grandchildren Joey and Nicki, Ricky and Connor and Meghan. He was predeceased by his infant grandson Sean.
