Westbrook

Nancy Jean Kaufmann Lagasse transitioned on May 23 with loving family at her side.

Nancy was born Oct. 10, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Karl Daniel Kaufmann and Marjorie Elizabeth Stratton Kaufmann. She grew up in Ivoryton and graduated from Valley Regional High School in 1953.

Nancy married the love of her life, Robert Lagasse, in 1955 and had five children, Linda, Stephen, Raymond, Craig, and Douglas. She lived in Westbrook for nearly 60 years. Nancy was dedicated to her home, family, business, and animals. Her passions included gardening, cooking, singing with Sweet Adeline’s International, and her cottage on Bashan Lake.

She and Bob owned and operated Lagasse’s Town Line Service. A stay-at-home Mom, she was active in the Westbrook Garden Club, Westbrook Fire Department, Inland Wetlands Commission, and Westbrook Cub Scouts.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Linda Lagasse; son Douglas Lagasse; granddaughter Devon Lagasse; sister Katharine David (Steve); brother Carl Kaufmann (Jeannie); Susan Kaufmann; and nieces and nephews and their children. She joins her husband Bob and three of her sons, Stephen, Raymond, and Craig, in heaven.

Love and deep gratitude to her loving care team, who made it possible for her to be home during her last years, Vikki, Gail, Lynn, Steve, Mike, Diane, Noreen, and the team at Chestelm Rehabilitation.

A Celebration of Life and reception will be held on June 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 1166 Boston Post Rd., Westbrook.
