James Elwood Lester, age 79, of Glasgow, Kentucky, and formerly of Madison, died May 29 at the Barren County Nursing and Rehab.

He is survived by his wife Gail Cunningham Lester of Glasgow, Kentucky; daughter Cathy Sharkey (Kurt) of Indiana; two sons, Michael Lester (Cassandra) of Florida and Barry Lester (Sheri) of Indiana; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, David Lester of Old Saybrook; and two sisters, Elizabeth White (Peter) of Madison, and Barbara Guenther (Dick) of Old Saybrook. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lester.

A memorial service was held June 4 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
