Susan (“Susann”) Patricia Benton, 57, died peacefully at her home in Peabody, Massachusetts, on May 22. She’s been known for her most wonderful outgoing, gregarious personality, her love of animals, family, and friends.

She is survived by her mother Nancy (Bishop) Benton; brothers Andrew (Susan) and their sons Andrew III and John, and Wayne (Nancy) and their son Nicholas; as well as by her close friend Charlie Leventis. She leaves behind many wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her father Elmer A Benton.

Born and raised in Guilford, she participated in the Madison 4-H Riding Club and worked in the family grocery store, Benton’s Markets. Susann graduated from Guilford High School in 1979 and then attended Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, where she graduated from its College of Business in 1983. Benton then worked for Nynex (now Verizon), where she enjoyed success in her career until retirement in 2006.

A memorial service was held on May 25 at the North Guilford Congregational Church. Interment was at Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford.
