Dorothy F. Magoon, 94, of Westbrook passed away peacefully on May 12 at Apple Rehabilitation in Old Saybrook. She was the beloved wife of Elton H. Magoon who predeceased her in 2009. Dorothy was born on Dec. 1, 1924, in Cummington, Massachusetts, the daughter of Leslie and Grace (Knapp) Joyner.

She is survived by her sons Peter L. Magoon of Ventura, California, and James E. and wife Judee A. Magoon of Old Saybrook; her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother Edward Joyner of Cummington, Massachusetts; and her sister Phyllis (Joyner) Chase of Vernon.

A family service was held at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown where Dorothy will join her husband. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Middlesex Health Cancer Center, c/o the Office of Philanthropy, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457.
