Madison

Dennis J. Dombkowski of Madison, formerly of Essex, Clinton, and Branford, passed suddenly from this world on April 1. He was born in Branford to the late Marion (Mike) and Marie Dombkowski of Clinton.

A hard worker, he spent most of his career working for R.R. Donnelly in Old Saybrook as a pressman, a 28-year-long employment. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time and working with his son, Marc Dombkowski of Deep River, at Hammonasset State Park. Each summer they would prepare and run the concession stands and campground, a position he found to be very rewarding. Working at Hammonasset left him with the ability to spend time and help out with his three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Courtney, and Jason Dombkowski of Clinton, whom he deeply cherished. His daughter, Christina Dombkowski of Parma, Ohio, was a constant source of conversation from day to day and always put a smile on his face. He was fortunate enough to have met a partner and friend during his time living in Madison and was grateful that Marcella Stahl was there to give him the companionship he enjoyed.

Dennis was a kind man who always made time for his family and friends and would drop everything in order to make sure they were taken care of. We will all truly miss his wit and smile.

Dennis was predeceased by his beautiful and energetic wife of 41 years, Theresa Dombkowski, his brothers James Dombkowski and Kenneth Dombkowski, and sisters Diane Dombkowski and Marion Dombkowski-Hawes. Surviving members of Dennis’s family include Dorothy Dombkowski-Hartman of Colorado, David Dombkowski of Northford, and William Dombkowski, also of Northford, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 2 at the Carriage House in Deep River. If you wish to make a donation in Dennis’s name, please send it to Oak Hill, 120 Holcomb Street, Hartford, CT 06112 or online at www.oakhillct.org.
