Joseph Patrick O’Mara III of Guilford passed away May 7 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of Elizabeth Jude O’Mara. Mr. O’Mara was born in New Haven on Nov. 4, 1960, son of the late Joseph Patrick O’Mara, Jr., and Gayle Stackpole O’Mara.

He was the loving father of Catherine O’Mara (Frank Putney) and Megan O’Mara of Guilford. He was the brother of Kelly Whitney of Branford, John O’Mara of Florida, Kathryn Carey of Clinton, Coleen O’Mara of New Haven, and James O’Mara of Colorado. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Elizabeth Anaclerio, Katherine D’Angelo, Andrew, Margaret, and MaryColleen Whitney, Kelly and Abigayle O’Mara, and Maina, Mason, and Sara Carey.

Joe is best remembered for the love he had for his wife, two daughters (“his girls”), and family. As a husband, father, brother, and uncle he will be most remembered for his humor, big heart, and laid back attitude. Joe had a passion for playing and watching sports, specifically basketball. Joe’s spirit lit up every room he walked into and he will be extremely missed by all.

Funeral and burial services will be held privately by the family.
