Guilford

Alice (Turner) Maher, 76, most recently of Guilford, formerly of Clayton, New Jersey, Flushing, New York, and Branford, passed away on April 26, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Alice was born March 31, 1943, in Camden, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Ellis H. and Alma Turner and was married to the late Thomas J. Maher on Jan. 16, 1966. She is survived by her daughter Kelly (Kevin) Carregal of Guilford and son Thomas C. (Rose) Maher of Norwalk; the lights of her life, her four grandchildren, Kevin, Jr., Klaire, Korey, and Joseph; as well as her granddogs Luca Brasi, Maggie, and Rusty.

Prior to retirement, Alice worked for the Transport Workers Union Local 100 as the assistance computer programs supervisor for grievance and discipline for many years.

Alice loved nothing more than being with her crazy family and felt that family was all you needed to be happy. She was an avid watcher of Jeopardy and Survivor, loved cheering her grandchildren on at their sporting events, and enjoyed reading books, cooking for her family, and purchasing a substantial number of slippers and nightgowns. She also enjoyed taking extended trips to see her family in Georgia, Florida, and New Jersey.
