James F. Ward, Sr., passed away peacefully on April 10 at the age of 88. He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on June 15, 1930, to Edmund and Alice (Burns) Ward. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lucille (Brainerd) Ward, of Middletown. He was predeceased by his first wife of 37 years, Noreen “Sandy” Ward.

He is survived by his three children, Jim (Sheila) Ward of Old Lyme, Kathy (Jim) Pascale of Clinton, and Tim (Jenn) Ward of Branford; grandchildren Jeff (Erin) and Jason (Kelly) Pascale, Meghan (Dan) Danko, and Patrick Ward; great-grandchildren Emma, Jason, Anthony, Kylee, Brynia and Cyrus Pascale, Brooke and Reagan Danko, and Ethan Harris. He is also survived by stepchildren F. James (Carol) Ifkovic of Middletown, Alicia (Matt) Ifkovic-Mau of Guilford, and Kirsta Ifkovic (Mark Rossignol) of Guilford; and grandchildren Jenna Ifkovic and Maya Mau.

Jim worked primarily in the autobody repair business, including owning and operating Ward’s Autobody in Madison. In addition to cars, he was also fond of boating. Upon retirement, he purchased a trawler, the Ashling, and he and Lucille completed the trip of a lifetime through the East Coast inland waterways. They eventually settled on the west coast of Florida, where he established an upholstery and canvas business. He and Lucille returned to Connecticut in 2015 to be close to their families.

Services were private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at 659 Tower Ave., First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112.
