Old Saybrook

Kathyleen M. Mills of Old Saybrook passed away on Feb. 2 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Aug. 16, 1937, in Bridgeport, the daughter of Steven and Mary (Message) Squashic.

Kathyleen is survived by her husband Homer Mills; daughter Joanne Kochiss and her husband Mark of Prospect; son John Corba of Deep River; stepsons Scott Mills and his wife Donna of Punta Verde, Florida, James Mills and his wife Rebecca of Gainesville, Florida, and John Mills and his wife Corina of Miami Springs, Florida; brother Kenny Squashic and his wife Jeannie of Naugatuck; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Thomas Corba, and a husband, John Corba.

As an active member of the community, she volunteered at Gladeview Convalescent Home and Apple Rehab in Old Saybrook. She also ran the friendly visitors program and helped out with a variety of tasks at Grace Episcopal Church. Going shopping, taking a trip to the casino, or just stopping by an estate sale were a few of the many hobbies she enjoyed.

No matter what words we use to describe her, she was a rock star who lived every day to the fullest. Whoever met her knows that she was an amazing, loving, caring, straight to the point, and down to earth woman. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and a good friend to all who knew her.

We will truly miss her; she touched all of our lives and will be forever in our hearts and memories.
