Branford, Boca Raton, Florida

Frank W. Sullivan of Branford and Boca Raton, Florida, gently and gracefully passed away on Feb. 4 at his home surrounded by his adoring family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Burke Sullivan for 45 years. Frank was born May 20, 1933, in Yonkers, New York, son of the late John and Eleanor Sullivan.

He was the general manager for Union Mutual Insurance Company in Bridgeport for many years until retiring in 1978. He loved all sports, in particular baseball, and enjoyed going to spring training down in Florida and his work as a professional umpire.

His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He coached his sons in Little League, attended all of his grandchildren’s activities, and taught religious education classes. He loved taking his family to amusement parks all over the country and especially enjoyed riding roller coasters. After the passing of his first wife Patricia, it was ultimately important to keep his whole family together, and he was a great example of faith.

He was the proud and loving father of his children Susan (Scott) D’Amico of Branford, Kathleen (Mitch) DePalma of Branford, Eileen Boulay of Killingworth, Robert (Mary) Sullivan of North Branford, Brian (Monica) Sullivan of Branford, Stephen (Tracey) Sullivan of Hamilton Square, New Jersey, and David Sullivan of Skillman, New Jersey. He also leaves his daughter-in-law Leanna Sullivan of West New York, New Jersey; 16 grandchildren, Steven (Yasmeen) D’Amico, Danielle and Michael D’Amico, Patricia (Erwin) Franz, William DePalma, Bradford and Austin Boulay, Maggie, Connor, and Kevin Sullivan, Ryan (Sarah) Sullivan, Taylor and Brittany Sullivan, Francis William Sullivan III, and Trevor and Samantha Sullivan; and one great-grandchild, Liam Franz. He was predeceased by his first wife Helen Patricia Sullivan, his son F. William “Bill” Sullivan, and his son-in-law Robert Boulay.

Visiting hours were Feb. 6 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Feb. 7 in St. Lawrence Church, 7 Hemlock Dr., Killingworth. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
