Moodus, Ivoryton

Robert Pasquale Zuppe, 84, of Moodus passed away at his home on Feb. 8. He was born on July 28, 1934, in Ivoryton, the son of Charles and Lillian (Johnson) Zuppe. He proudly served his country in the US Army in Inchon, South Korea, as a radio operator. He continued his career as a printer for 38 years at UARCO in Deep River. Bob married Carol Trout on March 14, 1998.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Agnes, his brother Charles, and his sister Mildred. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his brother John Zuppe; his brother-in-law and good friend, Robert Blair; his brother-in-law C. Raymond Trout (Diana); his beloved wife Carol; his daughters Jacqueline Zima (Donald), Patricia Myers, and Barbara Powell (Gerard); his son Timothy Zuppe; and his step-daughters Janelle Kohn (Adam) and Aimee Olsen (William).

He also leaves his six grandchildren, Amanda Sabatucci (Robert), James Rossi (Madeline), Brook Myers, Trevor Myers, Bethany Powell, and Hannah Powell; his two step-grandchildren, Haylie Kohn and Devin Kohn; three great-grandchildren, Jack Rossi, Joel Rossi, and Harley Sabatucci; along with his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cherished dog Toby.

Bob will be remembered for his love of country and blue grass music and the many occasions he would play his mandolin and guitar, making family gatherings even more special. He was also an avid organic gardener and was proud of his bountiful harvests. Bob was deeply devoted to his family and was always there to offer encouraging words of advice and support. He bravely struggled for many years with Parkinson’s disease and always remained hopeful for a cure.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. in Centerbrook. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Deep River, 1 Church St. in Deep River. Interment with the rendering of Full Military Honors will follow in the Centerbrook Cemetery, Westbrook Road in Centerbrook. A reception will follow the interment services at the First Congregational Church of Deep River.
