Branford

Ann Raymond Keenan passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 26 to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Branford on Nov. 12, 1924, the daughter of the late Victoria (Kissell) and Joseph Raymond. She was the beloved wife of Edward P. Keenan of Branford.

Ann graduated with honors from Branford High School in 1942, where she served as student council president and played basketball. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford, and served for years at the Community Dining Room and in caring for elderly friends and relatives. She worked at the Atlantic Wire Company before starting her family. Her 70-year marriage was a beautiful testament of love and commitment. Ann was an outstanding dancer, an avid fan of UConn women’s basketball, and loved cooking for her family, especially baking pies. She enjoyed summer vacations at Camp Sequassen, BSA while Ed served as scoutmaster of Troop 424.

Ann so loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, took great delight in all their accomplishments and, most of all, enjoyed spending time with them. Ann leaves behind her son Russell E. Keenan and his wife Donna of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and her daughter Deborah K. Stokes and her husband Richard of Branford; and her grandchildren Jennifer (Paul) Harrell, Scott (Sarah) Keenan, Adam (Corinne) Stokes, Emily (Matt) Sczepanski, Meaghan E. Stokes (Charles Brown), and Cheryl (Seth) Whiting. She also leaves her three great-granddaughters, Ellie and Fiona Harrell and Josephine Whiting.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Feb. 1 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church at St. John Bosco Parish in Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford.
