Clinton

On Jan. 15 Phillip “Phil” Tostarelli passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Phil, 68, will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Jaime, and was a wonderful father to all of their children, Marianne and her husband Brian, Phillip, Stephanie and her husband Joshua, and Kelsey and her husband Courtney; and stepdaughters Kyle, Danielle and her husband Paul, and Michelle. Phil will also be forever remembered by his sister Rosemary, brother Frank, his twelve grandchildren, two nephews, as well as many other family members and very dear friends. Phil was predeceased by his parents Phillip Tostarelli and Viola DeMarco Tostarelli.

Phil spent his childhood in East Hartford, where he still has family and many childhood friends. This is where he got his start as a mechanic and eventually went to work at Pratt & Whitney (East Hartford and Middletown), until he retired after 32 years.

Phil was more than just a talented mechanic; he could fix anything! He was always willing to take the time to help and teach others and those he taught will always remember his lessons throughout their lives.

Most recently, Phil and Jaime spent their well-earned retirement traveling, making wine, and spending time at their house in Paamul, Mexico. He loved music and parties, and was quite literally the life of the party. Never afraid to be himself, he could often be found on the dance floor with Jaime or singing a Motown tune during Karaoke. His greatest passion, aside from spending time with friends and family, was fishing. He loved being out on the ocean and his fishing buddies, especially his grandchildren, will fondly remember their ocean adventures in search of their next big catch.

Calling hours will be Jan. 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a celebratory service 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton.
