Killingworth

Thomas Yandell, 73, of Killingworth passed away peacefully on Jan. 11 at home. He was born Feb. 16, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Herman and Loise (Dalton) Yandell.

Thomas is survived by the “love of his life” both back in high school and over the last 26 years, Lorraine (Graziani) Yandell, and loving children Robert Garamella II of Killingworth, Christine Yandell of Shelton, and Andrea Yandell of Stratford. Thomas is also survived by his devoted grandson Robert Garamella III, granddaughter Nicole Burr, and a sister, Judy Erb of Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Vince Russell.

Thomas was born in Baltimore, raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and moved to Connecticut in his teens to live with his maternal grandparents Guy and Visia Dalton. He was a proud member of Sheet Metal Wokers, Local 38, where he was employed for more than 41 years and served as past treasurer of the Retirees Club in Connecticut. Thomas was very artistic. He enjoyed painting, drawing, and abstract art, but his passion was working with wood and making bird houses. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching the Cowboys and Giants, and shooting darts with his buddies.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the spring at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 7 Hemlock Dr., Killingworth. Arrangements are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
