Old Saybrook

Holly (Sites) Herrick, 52, of Old Saybrook, wife of Bob Herrick for 32 years, passed away Jan. 1 at Yale-New Haven’s Smilow Cancer Hospital after a five-month battle with cancer. Her husband, daughter, and son-in-law were by her side.

Holly was the daughter of Ronald and Sharon Sites of Canal Winchester, Ohio. She was born Dec. 16, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Canal Winchester High School where she was the school’s mascot. After graduating in 1985, she married her high school sweetheart and had a daughter, Abigail.

Holly was a compassionate registered nurse. She spent the majority of her career caring for geriatric patients. She most recently worked as an MDS coordinator for Apple Healthcare.

Holly loved to travel with her family. Some of her fondest memories included traveling to Ireland, Hawaii, France, Quebec, England, and Disney. She loved to plan memorable experiences for her family. She will be most remembered for her humor and generous spirit.

More than anything else, Holly loved being a grandmother to Grace, 4, and Gus, 3. She loved teaching Grace and Gus to bake and do crafts. They had frequent sleepover parties and adventures. They truly were the light of her life.

Besides her husband and parents, Holly is survived by her beloved daughter Abigail Fredrickson and husband Peter of Westbrook and their two children Grace and August. She is also survived by her sisters Lisa Coey of Groveport, Ohio, and Jennifer Kasavage of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Dane Sites of Chillicothe, Ohio; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Todd Sites.

Friends and family were invited to a memorial service at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Groveport, Ohio, on Jan. 7. Calling hours were held before the service. Following the service, there was a reception for friends and family at the church.
