New Haven

Kevin Patrick Kluth, 73, of New Haven passed away Jan. 2 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was born on April 29, 1945, in New Haven, the son of George and Mary Frances (Mulrine) Kluth. Kevin is survived by his daughter Laura Kluth of New Haven; stepdaughters Monica Caldari (Oran) of California and Vanessa Caldari of Puerto Rico; sisters Roberta Rutovich of Michigan and Mary Frances Kluth of Branford; grandchildren Emilia, Aliana, Pier, Joshua, Rocio, Enzo, and Luna; best friend Al DePino; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers George and Henry Kluth.

A man full of memories and interesting facts, collector of relics, and lover of afternoon naps. He loved baking with his mom as a boy. Little sister Mary Frances learned to drive while the music played as they cruised where all the girls hung out. Tag sales were the best way to show off trinkets of all shapes and sizes and sell them at his stubborn prices. He told stories with his hands as if passing them on.

Kevin was a brave-hearted warrior surrounded by armor and a heart of gold. He went the extra mile for all types of people and animals. He fed squirrels, birds, skunks, and raccoons, and rescued cats, dogs, and even goldfish. British television, Anthony’s green beans, and everything bagels made him happy. So did warm sunny travels and Sunday drives with the dogs, fresh coffee, and his beloved friend Al at Fort Hale Park. Celebrations and down moods were rewarded with food! Saturday nights were for suits, ties, and dancing if only to hold up his standard of classy. Forever a smooth man, Kevin “P for Perfect” Kluth. May you be smiling with the sun shining brightly in your cool convertible listening to your favorite tunes in delight.

The family received friends on Jan. 7 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. His funeral procession left Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Jan. 8 for a Mass of Christian burial in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven, followed by Committal at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. In lieu of flowers donations in Kevin’s name can be made to the ASPCA and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
